We want DayOne to be a welcoming place for all people. Personal insults will not be tolerated on our servers or in the Discord.

Hostile roleplay is allowed, but do not push it too far and do not make it personal.

Trash talk and good-natured banter are fine, but we reserve the right to take action against individuals we deem overly antagonistic.

Spam of any image format clutters the channels and makes it difficult to communicate. Use words.

Breaking this rule may result in a timeout, or in extreme circumstances, removal from the Discord.

Glitching includes but is not limited to: hiding traps under terrain, looking through walls or buildings, hiding stashes underwater, jumping or vaulting into trees, and loot cycling.

We are not going to outline every possible example. Please use common sense. If you think your activity might violate this rule, stop and open a support ticket to ask before continuing.

Logging out to escape an encounter is against our rules. You must either retreat, negotiate, or fight. If you are in a standoff and unsure whether your opponent is still present, you log out at your own risk. If you must leave the game, you may need to sacrifice your character.

Do not use server restarts to ambush players you were observing or engaged with prior to the restart. Disengage.

Alt accounts are allowed, but do not use multiple accounts within the same restart cycle, and do not use them to return to a fight scene after dying. If you accidentally log into the wrong account you won't be penalized for immediately switching. If you log into an active situation, you are expected to play it out per our combat logging rule.

Do not watch streamers or be present in their chats while playing on our servers. We recommend leaving streams at least 15 minutes before joining a server — both to protect yourself against misunderstandings and to ensure you don't carry knowledge into the game that you shouldn't have.

If you gain information from outside the game, do not use it to your advantage. Organic gameplay is important to us and we need your cooperation here.

Do not watch streams of your teammates while playing, even if invited. This gives you visual information you wouldn't otherwise have.

Do not use public Discord channels to reveal the location of opponents to others.

We encourage the use of in-game VoIP, but external VoIP is permitted. We treat it as simulating radio communications.

Feel free to use the individual server channels or #looking-for-group to trade items or arrange a team-up.

• Betraying players you arranged to meet via Discord is forbidden.
• Betraying players you meet organically in-game is allowed — but you must live with your treachery.

DayZ is an imperfect game with bugs and issues that can result in losing your gear or your life without warning. Our philosophy is to brush it off and start a new adventure.
